"For a number of years, since we changed our tax preparation software from ProFile to Taxprep integrated with CCH iFirm, we have been able to streamline the signature process for tax filing by uploading a PDF of signed documents to CCH iFirm. Clients can retrieve documents, print them out, sign them, scan them, and upload them back to our secure CCH iFirm Portal.
As a result of COVID-19, the CRA has decided to allow electronic signatures for key forms related to tax preparation, including T183. This means that accountants can continue to offer filing services without having to deal with paper documents, or meet face to face to have documents signed.
